American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position supporting surgical overflow patients requiring at least 1 year of experience and NIHSS certification.

Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
-
Serve as surgical overflow, primarily caring for general surgery, orthopedic, and telemetry patients
-
Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
-
Utilizes cardiac monitoring equipment for dysrhythmia interpretation and management

Charting system experience required (any EMR)
-
Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) currently in hand

Nursing degree required

Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) through the American Heart Association

NIHSS certification may be pending but must be completed prior to start

Minimum 1 year of RN experience required

Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management

Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and oxygen tanks

Experience with non-invasive airway management

Familiarity with isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Provide direct patient care to surgical overflow patients including general surgery, orthopedic, and telemetry cases

Perform cardiac monitoring and emergency response duties as part of daily responsibilities

Manage peripheral IV lines and administer IV therapy as needed
-
Assist with non-invasive airway management and oxygen administration for respiratory patients
-
Follow isolation precautions and utilize appropriate PPE in patient care
