Avivo is looking for a part-time Maintenance Specialist to help ensure our housing and work spaces are safe, functional, and welcoming. This role plays an important part in supporting individuals on their journey toward recovery, housing stability, and economic advancement by maintaining environments where they can thrive.
In this role, you’ll bring your hands-on skills to a variety of maintenance and repair tasks while contributing to a mission-driven organization that values dignity, curiosity, and radical welcome.
Complete painting and drywall projects to prepare housing units and work spaces
Perform general maintenance and repairs including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and drywall repair
Support cleanliness and upkeep of buildings and housing units
Move and set up furniture for housing units and office spaces
Provide year-round grounds maintenance including snow removal, landscaping, lawn care, and trash removal
Follow safety and security procedures to ensure a safe environment for staff and participants
Deliver excellent, respectful customer service aligned with Avivo’s values
Collaborate with Volunteer Services and support volunteer-led efforts when needed
Respond to occasional after-hours maintenance needs and emergencies
Participate in team meetings, report safety concerns, and support emergency procedures
High School diploma or GED
At least 1 year of maintenance, construction, or trades experience—or a strong willingness and aptitude to learn
Ability to safely operate power tools and perform basic repairs
Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in indoor and outdoor environments year-round
Comfort working from ladders and in a variety of conditions
Strong time management, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Professional communication and customer service skills
Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to culturally responsive practices
Basic computer skills (email, internet, MS Office)
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel locally as needed
