Position Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Special Education: Cross Categorical Teacher at Marshall Middle School! In this dynamic role, you will inspire and empower students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, and other special education requirements. Your expertise will foster an inclusive classroom environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Duties
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique learning profile and needs
- Design specialized curricula that accommodate diverse learning styles, including students with autism, disabilities, or developmental delays
- Deliver engaging lessons across subjects such as math (including algebra and calculus), literacy, physical education, and creative writing using adaptive teaching methods and learning technology
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management strategies and applied behavior analysis techniques
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, families, and support staff to ensure comprehensive educational support
- Conduct assessments aligned with educational compliance standards and prepare progress reports for IEP meetings
- Utilize strong communication skills to tutor students individually or in small groups, fostering academic growth and confidence
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Valid teaching certification/license for special education or eligibility to obtain one
- Proven classroom experience working with students with disabilities or diverse learning needs
- Knowledge of special education law, educational compliance standards, and standardized testing procedures
- Expertise in behavior management for students with special needs and familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques
- Strong curriculum development skills with the ability to adapt lessons for various learning styles and abilities
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support teams
- Experience working with individuals who have autism or other developmental disabilities is highly desirable
