Job Overview
The PRN Perioperative Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe, efficient and compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in an Women's Health Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This position functions as a vital member of the perioperative team and may work in pre-operative, intraoperative (circulating), Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU) and discharge areas. Your skills will help uphold the highest standards of sterile technique, patient assessment, and critical care during operative procedures.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care, including preoperative assessments and postoperative recovery support.
- Assist with surgical procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterile field management to prevent infection.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and sedation as directed by physicians.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and support staff to ensure seamless operative workflows and patient safety.
- Assist with specimen collection, processing, and proper labeling for laboratory analysis.
- Support patient education regarding perioperative procedures and post-surgical care plans.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols throughout all activities.
Experience
- Valid Georgia RN license; prior perioperative or operating room experience highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to perioperative care.
- Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to work independently within a team environment are essential for success in this role.
