Provides leadership, coordination, guidance, and support for the IT infrastructure, facilities, and resiliency capabilities that enable the enterprise systems and services delivered by AITS. Serves as the primary liaison between AITS, university data center management, service providers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure and hosting requirements are met. Represents AITS in data center governance, operational, and planning groups across the universities and coordinates communications related to infrastructure projects, maintenance activities, outages, equipment installations, and technology lifecycle initiatives. Works closely with Administration and Financial Management, purchasing, vendors, and technical teams to plan, coordinate, and support data center and infrastructure projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource coordination, and stakeholder communications.
Leads and coordinates initiatives that strengthen organizational resiliency through effective disaster recovery (DR), business continuity planning (BCP), and emergency preparedness. Collaborates with technical and business units to develop, maintain, and continuously improve disaster recovery, business continuity, and emergency management plans to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and operational requirements. Coordinates disaster recovery testing and tabletop exercises, facilitates training and awareness activities, supports recovery prioritization efforts, and ensures that plans, inventories, operational documentation, and recovery procedures remain current and actionable. Serves as the primary coordinator for maintaining the AITS business continuity program and supports the ongoing development and execution of enterprise resiliency strategies.
Provides leadership and oversight for infrastructure and operational initiatives by applying established project management methodologies and collaborating with the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure consistent processes, governance, and execution. Works with auditors, technical staff, and organizational leadership to support internal and external audit activities and compliance requirements. Communicates organizational priorities, goals, concerns, and strategic direction on behalf of the Director of Infrastructure, Cloud Architecture, and Assurance, and provides leadership on special initiatives for senior AITS and System Office leadership. Exercises sound judgment, builds effective partnerships across organizational boundaries, and contributes to the reliable, secure, and efficient delivery of enterprise technology services in a large, complex, and evolving higher education environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate with university data center management personnel and service providers to ensure that the data center hosting needs for AITS are met.
- Represent AITS in data center governance, operations, and working groups across the universities.
- Provide communication and coordination between AITS and data center management groups regarding outages, upgrades, installation, and removal of AITS equipment.
- Work with auditors and AITS personnel as needed to satisfy requests and needs of internal and external audits.
- Manage large data center projects and those related to IT infrastructure.
- Work with AITS Administration and Financial Management (AFM), trades, vendors, and purchasing on data center-related projects; and provide coordination of work, which could include communications, scheduling, and assembling budgetary information in relation to such projects.
- Work with others to maintain the Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and emergency management plans to ensure that they are current and meet the needs of AITS and System Office.
- Work with the team to generate and maintain electronic and physical copies of the DR plan.
- Work with the team to develop and execute the DR and BCP program. This includes holding table-top exercises for DR testing; working with units to prioritize system recovery; holding training sessions for staff with identified roles in the BCP / DR plans; revising the plans as needed; coordinating the annual DR tests; reviewing and prioritization of systems and services; reconciling the plans with operations reports and inventory.
- Serve as primary lead for maintaining the AITS BCP plan.
- Manage IT operations projects following PMO processes and procedures.
- Work with PMO on processes and methodology in conjunction with IT Operations and data center projects.
- Be able to communicate the desired direction, goals, concerns, or issues of the Director of Infrastructure, Cloud Architecture, and Assurance as needed in various settings such as meetings, emails, phone calls, and conversations.
- Provide overall leadership on special projects for the Associate Vice President or Senior Associate Vice President.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities appropriate for a Coordinator position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Any one or any combination totaling 5 years (60 months) from the following categories:
- College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT Systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months), Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months), 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months), Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
- Work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or a closely related field, which includes supervisory or lead worker capacity.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of advanced technical experience within higher education.
- Proven work experience in IT project management.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrated skills in planning and execution of disaster recovery and data center services for large, complex, and rapidly changing organizations.
- Working knowledge of IT infrastructure principles and components, including servers, networking, storage systems, and data center facilities. Ability to understand infrastructure architectures, operational considerations, and technology dependencies sufficient to coordinate initiatives, communicate effectively with technical teams, and support planning and decision-making activities.
- Proven commitment to maintaining high-level customer service standards and the ability to instill this commitment in the team.
- Strong leadership, administrative, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop plans to resolve issues in a proactive manner.
- Familiarity with higher education environment and expert knowledge of University enterprise systems support and business practices, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively provide needed services within resource constraints and cost containment pressures.
- Ability to work independently and exercise initiative and judgment to make critical operational decisions. Highly competent in making decisions in difficult or ambiguous situations, when time is critical.
- Able to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside of the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.
- Able to view issues from the context of the larger picture of the organization's overall goals and strategy and put the elements into proper perspective for solving problems that affect many departments or processes or problems that require innovative approaches.
- Able to function effectively under pressure and maintain self-control in difficult situations.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a 100% Full Time Civil Service Information Tech Manager/Admin Coord position. The expected start date is as soon as possible.

The budgeted salary range for the position is $105,000.00 - 115,000.00. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
