Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assess and enhance the functional independence of adult patients with mental health and head injuries. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of adult patients to determine their occupational therapy needs, focusing on activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, cognition, and sensory processing.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at improving functional abilities, promoting recovery, and supporting discharge planning.
- Complete neurological assessments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, speech therapists, PT's, chiropractors—to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Work with individuals with disabilities, geriatrics, or post-acute conditions in an outpatient setting.
- Provide education and training to patients and caregivers on neuro techniques and assistive devices to enhance safety and independence.
- Document patient progress accurately in medical records and contribute to ongoing care plan adjustments based on clinical findings.
- Participate in discharge planning by evaluating patient needs for continued therapy or community resources to ensure seamless transitions.
- Engage in case management activities to monitor patient outcomes and optimize therapeutic interventions over time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program; licensure or certification as required by state law.
- Proven experience working with adults in settings such as acute care hospitals, ICU units, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health services.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and functional assessment techniques relevant to adult populations.
- Experience assisting with ADLs and developing tailored care plans for individuals with disabilities or recovering from injury or illness.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with mental health diagnosis across various age groups; experience in pediatrics is a plus.
- Ability to manage complex cases involving geriatrics, post-acute care, and outpatient therapy programs.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams and educating patients and families effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach.
