Position Summary
The Site Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and performance of janitorial, custodial, and porter services at the Dworshak Dam Facility. This is a hands-on working supervisor position responsible for ensuring assigned facilities are cleaned, maintained, inspected, and serviced in accordance with contract requirements, established cleaning schedules, safety requirements, and company quality standards.
The Site Supervisor serves as the primary on-site point of coordination for janitorial personnel and works closely with company management to ensure staffing, attendance, cleaning performance, supply availability, quality control, and contract requirements are consistently maintained.
The Site Supervisor is expected to perform janitorial and porter duties when necessary to maintain service levels, address staffing shortages, correct deficiencies, or meet contract requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Personnel
- Provide daily direction and supervision to Porters, Janitors, and other assigned facility-maintenance personnel.
- Assign work areas, cleaning responsibilities, schedules, and priorities.
- Verify employees report for scheduled shifts and accurately record hours worked.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, conduct, uniform requirements, and job performance.
- Provide employees with instructions regarding cleaning procedures and site-specific requirements.
- Report attendance, performance, disciplinary, safety, or employee-relations concerns to management/HR.
- Assist with training and orientation of newly assigned employees.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow company procedures when addressing employee concerns.
Janitorial & Porter Operations
Supervise and, when necessary, personally perform duties including:
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning floors.
- Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, toilets, urinals, sinks, fixtures, and related surfaces.
- Replenishing restroom supplies, including toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, and other consumables.
- Emptying trash and recycling receptacles and replacing liners.
- Cleaning offices, common areas, entrances, corridors, breakrooms, and other assigned spaces.
- Dusting and wiping furniture, fixtures, ledges, doors, and other surfaces.
- Cleaning interior glass and other designated glass surfaces.
- Spot-cleaning walls, doors, and high-touch surfaces.
- Responding to spills and other routine cleaning needs.
- Performing periodic or project cleaning as assigned.
- Ensuring janitorial closets and work areas remain clean and orderly.
Quality Control
- Conduct routine inspections of completed janitorial work.
- Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective cleaning is completed promptly.
- Verify required areas are serviced according to the applicable schedule.
- Complete inspection reports, checklists, service records, and other required documentation.
- Take photographs or otherwise document conditions when required by company procedures.
- Immediately elevate recurring or significant quality deficiencies to management.
- Help maintain contract performance and quality standards.
Government Facility Coordination
- Receive routine service-related observations and promptly communicate them to company management.
- Ensure employees comply with site access, security, safety, and conduct requirements.
- Do not make contractual commitments, agree to changes in scope, authorize additional work, or otherwise modify company obligations without management authorization.
- Immediately report government requests that appear outside the established scope of work.
Timekeeping & Reporting
- Ensure employees accurately record their actual hours worked using the company's designated timekeeping system.
- Review daily staffing and attendance information for accuracy.
- Report missed shifts, late arrivals, early departures, overtime requirements, or staffing shortages.
- Submit required daily or periodic operational reports.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and deficiencies corrected.
- Never direct or permit an employee to perform work off the clock.
Supplies & Equipment
- Monitor inventory of cleaning chemicals, paper products, liners, PPE, and other janitorial supplies.
- Notify management sufficiently in advance when supplies need replenishment.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is properly used, cleaned, stored, and maintained.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly.
- Ensure chemicals are properly labeled and stored and that Safety Data Sheets are accessible as required.
Working Supervisor Requirement
This is not solely an office or administrative supervisory position.
The Site Supervisor must be willing and able to perform janitorial and porter work alongside assigned employees when necessary. This may include covering an employee absence, completing unfinished work, correcting a cleaning deficiency, responding to an immediate facility need, or assisting the team during periods of increased workload.
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous janitorial, custodial, commercial cleaning, facility-services, or similar experience.
- Ability to supervise and provide direction to employees.
- Ability to perform hands-on commercial cleaning duties.
- Dependable attendance and ability to report reliably to the Dworshak Dam worksite.
- Ability to communicate professionally with employees, management, and customer representatives.
- Ability to complete basic electronic or written reports.
- Ability to follow detailed work schedules, cleaning specifications, and safety procedures.
- Ability to use smartphones, email, and electronic timekeeping/reporting systems.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, if required for the assignment.
- Ability to satisfy applicable federal facility access/security requirements.
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a Janitorial Supervisor, Custodial Supervisor, Lead Janitor, Lead Porter, or Facility Supervisor.
- Experience working at a federal, military, government, industrial, or other controlled-access facility.
- Experience performing quality-control inspections.
- Experience supervising multiple employees or cleaning areas.
- Knowledge of commercial cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Pay: $20.19 - $23.09 per hour
