Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and implementing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs in our skilled nursing facilities.
- Perform therapeutic interventions such as manual therapy, trigger point therapy, and other physiotherapy techniques to alleviate pain and improve mobility.
- Operate medical equipment safely and effectively during therapy sessions, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
- Document clinical assessments, treatment progress, and discharge planning accurately following medical documentation standards and electronic health records (EHR) management protocols.
- Communicate clearly with patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members to explain treatment procedures, progress updates, and care plans.
- Conduct clinical assessments and document findings meticulously to support ongoing care decisions.
- Support discharge planning processes by preparing detailed reports on patient progress and recommended follow-up therapies.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program with current licensure or certification as required by state law.
- Proven experience in physical therapy treatment implementation in skilled nursing facilities is desireable.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, geriatrics, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practice.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment documentation standards and medical documentation practices.
- Ability to operate medical equipment used in physiotherapy sessions safely and effectively.
- Skilled in manual therapy techniques including trigger point therapy and other hands-on modalities.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging adult geriatric patients and collaborating with healthcare professionals.
- Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems for accurate recordkeeping.
- Familiarity with care plans development for geriatric populations.
- Inpatient experience or skilled nursing facility experience is highly preferred; outpatient or clinic experience is also valuable.
- Knowledge of discharge planning procedures to ensure seamless patient transitions from therapy services.
