Pay:
- Surgical Support Veterinary Assistant: $19–$23/hour (DOE)
- Surgical Support Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT): $23–$27/hour (DOE)
- Plus: Flat-rate stipend per after-hours C-section (in addition to hourly pay and any applicable overtime)
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8am–6pm; occasional after-hours/on-call for timed C-sections and urgent surgical support.
Hours: Full-time, 34–38 hours/week.
About Cypress Veterinary Clinic
We’re an almost 4-year-old, growth-minded small animal hospital where every team member counts. We are a 2-doctor practice (dogs & cats; as of July 2024, exotics as well) with plans to add a 3rd veterinarian in Spring 2026 and expand reproduction services (breeding, pregnancy management, TCI, timed C-sections).

Role Overview
Join our surgical support team to assist across:
- Patient care, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery
- Dentistry (radiographs, prophylaxis; duties vary by credential/experience)
- Reproduction support (prep, TCI assistance, timed C-sections)
- Client education and communication
- Lab sample collection/processing; medication dispensing
- Facility/equipment maintenance and occasional reception support

- Licensed Veterinary Technician — LVT/CVT/RVT (Surgical Support)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with treatment plans, surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, laser therapy, and reproduction support
- Prepare patients, monitor recovery under supervision, and support post-procedure care (bandaging, discharge)
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed; for LVT/CVT/RVT, perform advanced duties per licensure (e.g., dental radiographs/prophy, IV catheter placement, intubation, in-house diagnostics)
- Collect/prepare laboratory samples; run in-house tests (IDEXX)
- Maintain cleanliness and function of clinical areas and equipment
- Educate clients on pet care, nutrition, and medical instructions
- Assist with reception tasks as needed (scheduling, communication)
- Exercise, groom, and safely restrain animals
After-Hours & On-Call Requirement
- Occasional after-hours/on-call surgical assistance (e.g., timed C-sections)
- Duties may include patient prep, anesthesia support/monitoring, recovery monitoring, and post-procedure cleanup under supervision
- All time worked is compensated, including the flat-rate stipend per after-hours C-section, plus hourly and any applicable overtime
- Scheduling communicated in advance; flexibility required
Qualifications
Assistant (Surgical Support):
- 1+ year as a Veterinary Assistant in small animal practice (preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication, organization, attention to detail; dependable team player
- Willingness to learn surgical, anesthesia, dental, and reproductive support skills
Licensed Veterinary Technician (Surgical Support):
- Current LVT/CVT/RVT (required)
- 2–3+ years veterinary experience
- Proficient in anesthesia monitoring, dental radiographs/prophylaxis, IV catheterization, endotracheal intubation, and in-house diagnostics
For Both:
- Ability to lift 40 lbs; stand/walk for extended periods; work in a fast-paced setting
- Clear, compassionate client communication; strong time management
- Spanish language skills a plus
Physical Requirements
- Lift, hold, and carry up to 40 lbs
- Frequent walking, stairs, and animal handling/restraining
- Maintain alertness when driving between occasional errands or duties
