Position Summary: The Sanitation Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe warehouse and office environment consistent with the company’s standards of quality, safety, and productivity. This role ensures daily housekeeping and sanitation tasks are completed, supports Food Safety compliance, and contributes to a professional workplace for employees and visitors.
Primary Responsibilities:
General Cleaning & Sanitation
- Perform heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, vacuuming carpets, cleaning glass, and removing trash.
- Clean warehouse, break rooms, offices, and restrooms using a variety of equipment and products.
- Stock sanitation supplies in restrooms and break areas.
- Clean up spills, breakages, and debris promptly to ensure a safe environment.
- Keep company grounds, parking areas, and dumpster zones free of litter and debris.
- Complete daily sanitation logs accurately.
Compliance & Safety
- Understand and follow company Food Safety program policies and audit requirements.
- Ensure pest control systems are operating effectively; report any issues to manager.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment, scrubbers, and pallet jacks as required.
- Follow all company safety procedures; immediately report hazards to management.
- Support master cleaning schedule, audits, and corrective actions.
Other Duties
- Wash and/or sweep insides of trailers and railcars if required.
- Assist with special cleanups or projects as instructed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, janitorial techniques, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to identify and address sanitation issues proactively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Clear communication skills in English with managers and co-workers.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically demanding role requiring use of full body movement and strength.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs repetitively and up to 60 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, squat, stoop, push, pull, and reach throughout the shift.
- Manual dexterity to handle cleaning equipment and tools.
- Work in warehouse environment with exposure to temperature swings, dust, noise, and high forklift/truck traffic.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
