Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. A consistent, daily commitment for the full program schedule is required.

ABOUT THE ROLE
GINYC is seeking a STEM Specialist to engage and inspire middle and high school students in an after-school setting at our TYWLS Bronx site. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in tailoring a curriculum that delves into science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. While STEM is the primary specialty, the Specialist is a key member of the program team responsible for facilitating core Girls Inc. curricula, providing daily homework help, and supporting the overall success of the after-school environment. Through a carefully crafted program and student-driven projects, the STEM Specialist will introduce participants to various technologies and ignite a passion for innovation.
The STEM Specialist is responsible for delivering programming five days per week in a GINYC DYCD OST (Out of School Time) program. The GINYC after-school program fosters and develops students' overall wellness. Students take advantage of opportunities to grow, define personal goals, and embark on their own journeys. Through unique and intentional programs, students have opportunities to explore and advance in all areas of their lives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Serve as a well-rounded facilitator for the after-school program, seamlessly transitioning between specialized STEM instruction, core Girls Inc. programming, and daily homework assistance.
● Develop lesson plans and modify STEM curricula to introduce participants to various technologies and ignite a passion for innovation.
● Facilitate hands-on, project-based STEM activities (such as coding, robotics, engineering design, and environmental science) that are engaging and accessible for youth with varying levels of experience.
● Facilitate Girls Inc. direct service programs with groups of 15–20 girls in grades 6 through 12.
● Position requires flexibility, creativity, organization, energy, and passion for inspiring girls to be strong, smart, and bold.
● Create an inclusive space that challenges gender stereotypes and is LGBTQ+-friendly.
● Build strong relationships with youth, parents, school staff, and community leaders.
● Handle administrative duties such as daily attendance, reporting, and homework logs.
● Able to follow through on directives given by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Minimum of 2 years’ experience facilitating for high school and/or middle school youth.
● Demonstrated experience and passion for a range of STEM topics, such as coding, robotics, engineering design, and environmental science.
● Proficiency in Middle School Math and Science in order to facilitate successful daily homework help sessions.
● Background in partnering with schools, experiential learning, and group facilitation with youth is a must.
● Excellent written and oral communication skills.
● Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills that follow youth development principles.
● Reliable, timely, and able to receive and provide feedback in a constructive way.
● Associate’s Degree or some college coursework completed; degree preferred in a STEM field, Education, or a related area.
● Experience working in single-sex, gender equity programs is preferred.
