Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing for changes, and reporting concerns promptly to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following proper protocols and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist residents during meal times to promote independence and social engagement
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control standards
- Implement care plans developed by healthcare teams, ensuring personalized support for each resident’s unique needs
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to foster socialization and mental stimulation
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and the use of assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are advantageous
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams including social workers and healthcare providers
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a positive attitude when supporting individuals with disabilities or aging-related needs
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed
