Controller
Location: Las Vegas, NV (On-site, Headquarters)
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function from our Las Vegas headquarters. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will own financial reporting, internal controls, and day-to-day accounting operations across our multi-location footprint, while leading and developing a small accounting team. This is a hands-on leadership role for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, delivering accurate and timely consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Lead consolidation and intercompany accounting across multiple entities
- Manage, mentor, and develop a small accounting team spanning GL, AP, AR, and payroll
- Design, implement, and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Serve as primary liaison with external tax advisors
- Oversee cash management, treasury operations, and banking relationships
- Manage local tax compliance, including sales/use tax and property tax
- Partner with operations leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Oversee revenue recognition across diverse revenue streams (e.g., event bookings, retail/POS transactions, hospitality services, deposits, and gift cards as applicable)
- Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and reporting, including the integration of our custom ERP/POS platform with QuickBooks and downstream reporting tools
- Support the CFO on lender/investor reporting, and ad hoc strategic projects
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years as a Controller or Assistant Controller
- Direct experience at a multi-location company operating in events, retail, or hospitality
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and consolidations
- Proven track record of leading and developing accounting teams
- Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks (Online or Enterprise) in a multi-entity environment
- Comfort working with custom or proprietary ERP/POS systems, including extracting data, reconciling to the GL, and partnering with internal tech teams on enhancements
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license (not required)
- Public accounting foundation followed by industry experience
- Experience in high-transaction-volume environments and integrating POS or booking platforms with QuickBooks or another GL
- Experience scaling QuickBooks beyond its native limits (third-party consolidation tools, custom reporting, or eventual migration to a larger ERP)
