Duties Description The Plant Utilities Engineer 3 (PUE 3) holds the responsibility for the safe and efficient round-the-clock operation of the University at Albany’s Heating Plant throughout the year. The incumbent operates, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, tests, and calibrates mechanical equipment essential for the provision of heat, hot water, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical distribution associated with heating plant operations. This role functions as the Heating Plant Specialist, overseeing all operational aspects of the Heating Plant and directly managing the Data Center HVAC systems. This position is directly responsible for water chemistry management and regulatory compliance. The position reports to the Plant Utilities Engineer 4 (PUE 4), supervises the first-shift team, and supports other shifts as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have a reachable score on the University at Albany Plant Utilities Engineer 3 Exam List OR
Be a current NYS employee and have a current permanent appointment with 1 year of service as an Plant Utilities Engineer 3, or in a title eligible to transfer to Plant Utilities Engineer 3 OR
Be a former NYS employee eligible for reinstatement to the title of Plant Utilities Engineer 3
May be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at the time of appointment.
