This is an amazing opportunity with room for advancement for individuals seeking an entry-level introduction into the world of small-batch cosmetic manufacturing. The Production Assistant works closely with the Production Manager in assisting in the production of our clean beauty haircare products. Extensive on-the-job trainingwill be provided to instruct new hires on the function, specifications, and cautions associated with each ingredient, knowledge of safe workplace, and OSHA procedures. While prior Beauty Care or Lab experience is not necessary, experience in either food production or manufacturing is a plus. Successful candidates will have the ability to create an efficient and consistent workflow, and an extremely strong attention to detail. Critical thinking and planning are needed to ensure that methods used are safe, efficient, and appropriate to batch size. Efficiency, consistency, and accuracy are the three top measures of performance in this position.
Reports to: Production Manager & Owner
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Following established formulas and working with the Production Manager, assist in the creation of natural hair care products from start to finish, including, but not limited to measuring, infusion preparation, heating, mixing, blending, and cleanup.
- Ensure that formulations are produced using consistent measurements with established units (e.g. ounces or grams) and within specified tolerances and using established methods and procedures.
- Assist Production Manager in maintaining a hygienic, safe, and organized workspace in accordance with established manufacturing best practices and guidelines.
- Quality control at all stages of production, including checking integrity and consistency of raw materials, any irregularities in formulations, consistency in fill amounts, accurate and organized temporary storage for unlabeled, but filled, containers, and cleanliness of bottle and jars during the filling and capping process
- Assistance with new product development and testing.
- Follow established protocol to ensure that proprietary formulas are safeguarded.
- Regular communication with Owner and Production Manager regarding any challenges, concerns, issues, or questions relating to assigned tasks and expectations relating to production.
- Administrative support as needed in various production and formulation-related tasks.
- Assisting with materials prep, bottling, capping, labelling, cleanup and recording assembled inventory.
Hours:
Full time with an average of 36 hours per week. Hours and days worked are dependent upon Production Schedule and must be coordinated with Production Team.
Pay:
$20 - $23/hr. depending on experience
Benefits:
Paid Time Off (PTO) is accrued hourly at a rate of 1 hr of PTO for every 50 hours worked with a maximum of 80 hours of PTO per year. Accrued PTO automatically rolls over if not used within a calendar year. In addition, a total of (6) paid holidays are also provided during times when the business is closed and are limited to New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. After (5) years of continuous full-time employment with Original Moxie, PTO days will increase to (14) days.
