Ellington Public Schools is seeking caring, dependable, and student-focused Paraeducators to support students in achieving academic, social, and behavioral success. Position Summary
As a Paraeducatorl, you will work alongside certified teachers to provide instructional, behavioral, and classroom support for students with a variety of learning needs. The ideal candidate is patient, flexible, and committed to helping every student thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with classroom teachers to deliver instructional support and reinforce daily lessons.
- Assist students individually and in small groups with academic assignments and learning activities.
- Encourage student participation and engagement throughout the school day.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Implement behavior support strategies as directed by the classroom teacher and student plans.
- Support students in developing literacy, communication, social, and independent living skills.
- Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers to support instructional planning.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and other assigned duties.
- Help ensure a safe, supportive, and welcoming learning environment for all students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children or adolescents in a school, childcare, or related setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative.
- Knowledge of positive behavior support practices and classroom management strategies.
- Familiarity with literacy instruction and student interventions is beneficial.
- Coursework or experience in education, special education, early childhood education, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Pay: $19.34 - $24.27 per hour
