Assistant General Manager – Workman Sports Complex

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM | Saturday 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Compensation
- Base Salary: Starting at $48,000 annually
- Bonus Opportunities: Competitive performance bonus program with realistic on-target earnings of up to $65,000 annually for individuals who consistently achieve membership sales and club performance goals.
We are seeking a motivated, high-energy, and results-driven Assistant General Manager to support daily operations and help lead the continued growth of Workman Sports Complex. This role is heavily focused on membership sales, prospecting, and retention while also serving as a key operational leader for staff and facility management. The ideal candidate is a natural leader who thrives in a fast-paced recreational environment, enjoys building relationships, and can balance sales performance with strong operational execution.
Primary Sales, Prospecting & Membership Responsibilities
- Proactive Prospecting & Lead Generation: Consistently generate new membership leads through outreach, community engagement, partnerships, referrals, events, and in-facility prospecting. This is an active sales role—not a passive inbound-only position.
- Membership Sales Leadership: Drive new membership sales through tours, consultations, follow-ups, and relationship building with prospective members.
- Member Retention Management: Manage all membership account activity including cancellations, freezes, upgrades, downgrades, and retention conversations while working to improve overall member satisfaction and longevity.
- Revenue Growth: Meet and exceed monthly membership goals and support additional revenue opportunities including programs, events, and ancillary services.
- Promotional Strategy: Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute membership campaigns, community outreach efforts, referral initiatives, and seasonal promotions.
Operational Leadership & Management Responsibilities
- Staff Leadership: Serve as Assistant Manager, providing supervision, support, and leadership to front desk staff, facility personnel, and team members.
- Daily Operations: Support overall facility operations to ensure a positive experience for members and guests while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
- Initiative Execution: Help drive organizational initiatives and strategic goals while identifying opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and member experience.
- Facility Oversight: Monitor facility cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards while ensuring equipment and common areas are maintained.
- Problem Resolution: Address member concerns and escalated situations professionally and effectively to maintain a positive environment.
Qualifications
- Previous management, supervisory, or leadership experience preferred
- Strong sales background with experience in memberships, fitness, recreation, or service industries preferred
- Comfortable with proactive prospecting and outbound sales activity
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to lead and motivate staff in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire)
