ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Flare Construction is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators at all levels (I through IV) for an active civil project in North Dakota. This assignment runs through mid-to-late September, with strong potential to continue on other ongoing Flare projects in Arizona, Nevada (Las Vegas area), or Utah based on performance, fit, and your availability to travel.
Per diem is offered. This is a project-based position with continued opportunity for operators who show up, perform, and want to keep working.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Depending on your level, your work will include operating construction equipment safely and productively on civil earthwork projects:
- Operating skid steers, mini-excavators, backhoes, loaders, dozers, graders, and large excavators depending on your experience level
- Performing trenching, grading, cut/fill, and compaction operations
- Conducting daily equipment pre-shift inspections and basic maintenance
- Reading grade stakes and construction drawings (Levels III and IV)
- Mentoring junior operators and coordinating with crew and supervision (Levels III and IV)
- Following all site safety policies, PPE requirements, and company standards at all times
HIRING LEVEL BREAKDOWN
We hire at four levels based on your experience and demonstrated skill:
HEO Level I — Entry level. Some construction or equipment experience preferred. Learning foundation-level safety and operations under direct supervision.
HEO Level II — Minimum 2,000 hours of documented operating experience. Proficient with multiple equipment types. Growing independence.
HEO Level III — 10+ years of progressive heavy equipment experience across multiple equipment types. Reads plans and grade stakes. Provides on-the-job mentoring.
HEO Level IV — Expert-level operator. Multi-equipment mastery, crew coordination, training of junior operators, and independent project execution.
All levels must be willing and able to travel to remote project sites and work extended field assignments.
REQUIREMENTS — ALL LEVELS
- CDL strongly preferred; valid driver's license required
- OSHA 10-Hour required (or completed within 90 days of hire for Level I)
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Willingness to travel and work extended field assignments
- Ability to work in outdoor environments in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. and meet physical demands of field construction work
Additional — Levels III and IV:
- OSHA 30 preferred
- GPS machine control experience a plus

This is a field-based, travel-required position. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to project sites for extended assignments.
