Job Summary
The Marketing & Design Specialist is responsible for executing ASUA's social media strategy and supporting the organization's marketing and communications initiatives. This position serves as the primary manager of ASUA's social media platforms, creating engaging, mission-aligned content that reflects the organization's visual and linguistic identity while highlighting the stories, students, staff, and programs that make ASUA unique.
Working under the direction of the Brand & Marketing Strategist, this position also assists with graphic design, website updates, photography, videography, marketing materials, and other brand initiatives that strengthen ASUA's presence and advance its mission.
Certifications and Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree (or current enrollment) in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience managing social media platforms for an organization, business, or nonprofit preferred
- Experience using graphic design, photography, video editing, and content creation software
- Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Current (dated within one year) Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
Essential Duties
Social Media Management
- Serve as the primary administrator for ASUA's social media platforms
- Create, schedule, publish, and monitor engaging social media content across multiple platforms
- Capture high-quality photography and videography that showcases ASUA's programs, students, staff, events, and organizational culture
- Write compelling, mission-aligned copy that reflects ASUA's established voice and linguistic identity
- Respond to comments, messages, and community engagement in a timely and professional manner
- Monitor social media trends and recommend content opportunities that align with organizational priorities
- Track platform analytics and prepare reports on engagement, audience growth, and content performance
- Ensure all social media content complies with student media permissions, organizational policies, and privacy requirements
Marketing & Brand Support
- Assist the Brand & Marketing Strategist in developing digital and print marketing materials
- Prepare graphics, promotional materials, flyers, brochures, presentations, signage, and other branded resources
- Support implementation of ASUA's visual identity standards across marketing materials
- Assist with website updates, including content, images, and organizational announcements
- Support internal and external communication initiatives as assigned
- Maintain organized digital marketing assets, photographs, videos, and design files in accordance with organizational standards
Content Creation
- Attend school events, community activities, and organizational functions to capture photography, video, and other marketing content
- Collaborate with departments across the organization to identify and develop stories that highlight student achievement, staff excellence, partnerships, and organizational initiatives
- Assist with content creation for newsletters, promotional campaigns, recruitment efforts, fundraising initiatives, and special projects
- Ensure all published materials accurately reflect ASUA's mission, vision, values, and brand standards
Organizational Support
- Maintain proficiency with marketing, design, photography, and social media technologies relevant to the position
- Support the continuous improvement of ASUA's marketing processes and content management systems
- Protect confidential information and adhere to all organizational policies related to privacy, security, and communications
- Support and promote the mission, vision, philosophy, and values of A Step Up Academy

- Travel between ASUA locations and off-site events as needed

Equipment/Material Handled
The individual in this position shall be assigned a variety of resources and materials which are to be appropriately stored and accounted for. All media resources and borrowed material are to be judiciously used, and are to be maintained in a reasonably unsoiled and non- damaged fashion. Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
