We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team at Women’s Health Clinic in Des Plaines and Western/Diversey location. This role is critical in ensuring efficient patient reception, administrative support, and clinical assistance. The MA will act as a liaison between patients and providers, contributing to a seamless healthcare experience.

Responsibilities
- Patient Support & Flow: Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, answer phone and maintain a smooth patient flow. Reviewing and processing patient intake forms
- Vital Signs & Documentation: Measure and record vital signs, height, and weight; document in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) per policy
- Pre-Visit Preparation: Complete chart preparation for acute, follow-up, and preventive visits, including medical record requests and care plan initiation
- Clinical Assistance: Assist with patient examinations, prepare patients for procedures, assist the physician during the procedure, and provide medication education as ordered
- Lab test & Specimen Collection: Drawing blood and conducting lab tests (blood type, Rh factor, hemoglobin), Collect and process lab specimens, coordinate lab schedules, and ensure correct labeling
- Monitoring patients: Monitor patient during and after the procedure, providing post-procedure care and recovery monitoring. Recognizing and responding to complications or emergencies. Providing emotional support and reassurance throughout the visit
- Medication & Orders: Prepare and administer medications, initiate prescriptions or refills (per clinician approval), and enter orders into the EHR
- Immunizations & Injections: Administer vaccines and injections under standing orders or direct clinical direction
- EHR & Tracking: Maintain daily EHR worklists, update patient data, and track referrals and appointments
- Administrative Duties: Scheduling and confirming appointments. Managing patient records and medical files. Processing payments and insurance documentation. Maintaining compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations. Managing medical supplies and inventory
- Infection Control: Follow strict infection control protocols for sterilization, autoclaving, and safe handling of instruments
- Environmental & Supply Management: Prepare and stock exam rooms, maintain medical supplies inventory, and perform preventive maintenance. Maintaining a clean and sterile clinical environment. Proper disposal of medical waste.Ensuring all equipment is sterilized and maintained
- Quality & Compliance: Participate in continuous quality improvement, attend training, and follow clinic-specific policies
Skills & Qualifications
- Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA, RMA) with current certification.
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency in phlebotomy, EKG setup, basic lab work, and patient care.
- Administrative Skills: Strong EHR navigation, scheduling, and documentation.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication; ability to explain procedures and care plans.
- Compliance: Knowledge of HIPAA, infection control, and reproductive health regulations.
- Empathy & Professionalism: Respectful, compassionate, and conflict-resolution skills.
Typical Work Environment
- Setting: Private or public abortion clinics, reproductive health centers, or OB/GYN practices.
- Schedule: May include weekday, weekend, or evening hours depending on clinic needs.
- Supervision: Works under the direct clinical direction of a physician or nurse practitioner.
- Must have a minimum of at least 6 to 9 months in a similar role.
- A certification as a Medical Assistant is required.
- Spanish Speaking a plus but not required
Hours of operations:
The position is a part time position. The hours vary but scheduled days are every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. There will also be at least 3 Tuesday per month.

Pay range:
$ 20.00 - $ 23.00 Must have a Medical Assistance Certificated through the State.
