Position Summary
S&S Flooring Studio is looking for a highly skilled, detail-focused Flooring Installer to provide exceptional flooring installations in occupied homes, renovation projects, and new construction throughout the Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads area.
This position plays a vital role in delivering the premium, white-glove service our clients expect. As the professional responsible for the finished installation, you represent the final stage of the customer experience. The quality of your workmanship is what clients will see, use, and enjoy for years to come. Expertise in luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and laminate flooring installation is required, while experience with ceramic tile and carpet installation is a valuable asset.
This is not a high-volume production installation role. We emphasize craftsmanship, attention to detail, and outstanding customer service on every project. The ideal installer takes pride in producing exceptional work, communicates professionally and respectfully with clients on-site, and consistently upholds the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
- Install luxury vinyl plank (LVP), hardwood, tile, and carpet flooring to consistently high standards of workmanship.
- Prepare subfloors by completing leveling, moisture testing, and removal of existing flooring materials as required.
- Measure, plan, and cut flooring materials precisely to minimize waste and achieve clean, accurate installations.
- Install transitions, moldings, trim, and other finishing details to create a polished, professional appearance.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment from project setup through final completion.
- Interact with homeowners and clients in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner throughout every job.
- Collaborate proactively with the project management and sales teams to confirm project scope, schedules, materials, and installation requirements before and during each project.
- Identify, document, and communicate subfloor concerns, material shortages, or scope changes promptly to the appropriate team members.
- Follow all company and industry safety practices, including proper equipment use, lifting techniques, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

Education & Experience
- Minimum of three years of hands-on residential flooring installation experience.
- Proven expertise in luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and laminate flooring installation is required.
- Experience working in occupied homes, with the professionalism and courtesy necessary to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Strong knowledge of subfloor preparation, including leveling, moisture testing, and removal of existing flooring materials.
- Ability to read and interpret project drawings, measurements, installation plans, and manufacturer specifications.
- Valid driver's license, reliable personal transportation, and the ability to travel throughout the Hampton Roads area.
- Ability to provide a portfolio or photographs showcasing previous installation projects during the interview process.
- Must successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment.
- Physically capable of meeting the demands of the role, including lifting, kneeling, bending, and performing sustained physical work throughout the day.
Preferred (Not Required):
- Proficiency in ceramic tile and/or carpet installation.
- Experience with remodels and new construction builds in addition to occupied residential.
- FCEF (Floor Covering Education Foundation) or NFIC certification.
- Familiarity with project management or communication tools used to coordinate job details.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Pay Type: Hourly
Starting Pay: $23.00 / hr
Pay Range: $23.00 – $33.00 / hr (based on experience & floor type proficiency)
Mileage Reimbursement: Yes — Vehicle Required (Mileage Reimbursement)
