Header: Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and specialized trucks including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and roll-off trucks across over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper cargo securing in compliance with logistics cargo handling standards.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards.
- Transport hazardous materials (Hazmat) following all hazardous materials regulations and hazardous goods safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation for each shipment, including delivery logs, load manifests, and inspection reports.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any incidents during transit.
Header: Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across long distances.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA standards, and hazardous materials regulations for safe transportation of dangerous goods.
- Skilled in operating various types of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Proficient in using GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and execution.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using manual handling techniques or forklift operation when necessary.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures to ensure proper load securing and compliance with safety standards.
