Derekhpath is recruiting for a Product Launch / Manufacturing Process Engineer on behalf of a confidential, venture-backed company in Sacramento.
This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys new product introduction, manufacturing process improvement, lean implementation, and cross-functional coordination. The company is building a repeatable physical product at scale, so this role is focused on making sure product changes, production processes, and field execution all work together cleanly.
The Product Launch / Manufacturing Process Engineer will support product launches, process development, workflow improvement, and ongoing continuous improvement efforts. As a Product Launch / Manufacturing Process Engineer, you’ll work closely with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Field teams to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, support product changes, and make sure new processes are properly tested, documented, and adopted.
Key Responsibilities
- Support new product introduction and product launch initiatives across manufacturing and field operations.
- Help develop, test, and implement improvements to current and future products.
- Assist with integrating new products and product changes into manufacturing processes.
- Support prototyping, iterative testing, feedback review, and process refinement.
- Help manage product changes and transitions across manufacturing and field operations.
- Analyze current manufacturing workflows to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to improve material flow, inventory management, labor efficiency, production speed, quality, safety, and waste reduction.
- Lead or participate in Kaizen events and other continuous improvement projects.
- Work with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Field teams to solve production challenges and implement sustainable process improvements.
- Train manufacturing and field staff on new processes, workflows, and lean methods.
- Help establish and monitor KPIs for safety, quality, labor efficiency, production speed, and material utilization.
- Maintain documentation for product launches, process changes, testing, and improvement projects.
- Prepare reports and present findings to internal stakeholders to support decision-making.
- Evaluate manufacturing tools, technologies, and automation opportunities that could improve production capabilities.
- Help ensure processes follow company policies, safety standards, and applicable industry requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in new product introduction, process engineering, lean manufacturing, or a similar production environment.
- Experience applying lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Agile principles, or other continuous improvement methods.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify process gaps, production issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Experience with CAD systems, manufacturing software, and process mapping tools.
- Comfort working with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality, procurement, field teams, and operations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to train or support manufacturing and field staff as processes change.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving production environment.
- Experience with Jira or Agile project management tools is a plus.
- Experience in off-site construction, modular building, building products, or manufacturing is a plus.
- Experience with automation, material flow improvement, production layouts, or process mapping is a plus.
Why This Role
This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to stay close to how products are actually launched, built, tested, improved, and repeated in a production environment.
Instead of only working on isolated process improvements, this role stays connected to the full product lifecycle. The work is focused on improving launch execution, production workflows, material flow, documentation, training, quality, and the systems behind repeatable manufacturing.
The company offers a competitive salary, equity, medical/dental/vision benefits, and the opportunity to join a team working on a complex physical product with real manufacturing, field operations, and continuous improvement behind it.
