Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and calculus while ensuring patient comfort.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical records, vital signs, and medical history to tailor treatment plans effectively.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to enhance their understanding of dental health.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, medical records, and clinical notes using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix.
- Follow infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, and documentation review processes.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to oral health, medical terminology, and infection control standards.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, medical imaging techniques, and medical records management.
