To provide district-wide leadership, coaching, professional learning, and instructional support that promotes effective integration of technology, digital learning, data-informed instruction, and innovative teaching practices to improve student achievement and educator effectiveness.
The Instructional Technology Specialist collaborates with teachers, administrators, instructional coaches, and district departments to support instructional technology initiatives, digital curriculum implementation, assessment systems, instructional data analysis, and professional development aligned with district and state goals.
Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to integrate technology into instruction using research-based instructional strategies and best practices.
Model effective instructional technology integration strategies that enhance student engagement, differentiation, collaboration, creativity, and personalized learning.
Support implementation of digital literacy and computer science initiatives aligned to state standards.
Provide classroom support, co-teaching, coaching cycles, and technology integration assistance for K–12 educators.
Assist teachers in selecting and implementing appropriate instructional technology tools, digital resources, and online learning platforms.
Support implementation of blended learning, project-based learning, formative assessment, and student-centered instructional practices.
Maintain current knowledge of emerging educational technologies, artificial intelligence tools, instructional software, and digital learning trends.
Design, develop, facilitate, and evaluate district-wide professional learning opportunities related to instructional technology, digital tools, instructional strategies, data analysis, and curriculum integration.
Create instructional resources, tutorials, presentations, videos, digital guides, and training materials for faculty and staff.
Provide ongoing support and follow-up coaching to ensure successful implementation of professional learning initiatives.
Assist with onboarding and technology training for new teachers and staff.
Support district and school technology initiatives through workshops, conferences, faculty meetings, and collaborative planning sessions.
Assist with the implementation and support of instructional platforms, assessment systems, and student data systems.
Support educators and administrators in accessing, analyzing, and interpreting instructional and assessment data to drive instructional decision-making.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of instructional dashboards, reports, spreadsheets, and data tracking systems.
Support state and district assessment initiatives, including digital testing platforms and reporting systems.
Collaborate with district leadership to identify instructional trends, monitor program effectiveness, and support continuous improvement efforts.
Assist with troubleshooting instructional technology devices, software, online platforms, and classroom technology equipment.
Collaborate with technology department personnel to support device deployment, maintenance, and technology inventory processes.
Assist in evaluating instructional software, digital tools, and technology purchases aligned to district instructional goals.
Support implementation and maintenance of instructional technology systems, including learning management systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, interactive displays, and other district-supported technologies.
Provide technical guidance and support to teachers and administrators regarding instructional technology use.
Serve as a liaison between curriculum, instruction, assessment, and technology departments.
Participate in district committees, curriculum initiatives, school improvement efforts, and strategic planning related to instructional technology and digital learning.
Model and promote digital citizenship, ethical technology use, and responsible online behavior for students and staff.
Assist schools and departments with grant opportunities, technology planning, and implementation of innovative instructional initiatives.
Maintain positive professional relationships with faculty, staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Teaching & Learning, Chief Technology Officer, or Superintendent.
Valid Alabama teaching certificate.
Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in education, instructional technology, curriculum support, or related field preferred.
Experience designing and delivering professional development for educators.
Knowledge of instructional technology tools, digital learning platforms, student data systems, and instructional best practices.
Experience with Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office/365, instructional software platforms, assessment systems, and educational technology devices.
Strong understanding of instructional design, digital learning, and technology integration frameworks.
Ability to analyze instructional data and support data-informed decision-making.
Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple schools and departments.
Contract days to be determined (187, 208, 222, or 240 possible)
Salary and benefits established by the Board of Education salary schedule and applicable policies.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and administrative procedures for professional personnel evaluation.
