CARCON Industries is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) – MEP to support the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes on a large-scale construction project.
The APM – MEP will work closely with Project Managers, field leadership, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to ensure MEP activities are properly coordinated, documented, and executed in accordance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day management and coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems.
- Coordinate with MEP subcontractors, field teams, design consultants, and other project stakeholders.
- Review and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and procurement activities.
- Support coordination of MEP installations with architectural, structural, civil, and other building systems.
- Participate in coordination meetings and assist with identifying and resolving design or field conflicts.
- Monitor project schedules, milestones, material deliveries, and subcontractor progress.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to support compliance with project requirements.
- Track long-lead MEP equipment and materials and identify potential schedule impacts.
- Support cost tracking, change management, project documentation, and reporting.
- Conduct site walks to monitor construction progress, quality, and coordination issues.
- Assist with inspections, testing, commissioning, punch-list activities, and project closeout.
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project safety and quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- 2–5+ years of construction experience, preferably supporting MEP scopes on large or technically complex projects.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and construction sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and project documents.
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement logs, and project schedules.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software preferred.
Preferred Experience
Experience with large commercial, aviation, healthcare, data center, infrastructure, higher education, or other complex construction projects involving significant MEP coordination is preferred.
