Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) and operate advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners to support accurate diagnoses.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Perform vital signs assessments and document medical history accurately to assist with comprehensive patient care.
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.
- Follow strict infection control procedures including dental sterilization protocols and aseptic techniques to uphold healthcare infection prevention standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding and documentation is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, dental sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform dental X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and oral surgery procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Certification in Dental Assisting or equivalent credentials; additional training in pediatric dentistry or endodontics is advantageous.
