Bitarchitects is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia to support a variety of architectural and engineering projects on a flexible, project-based basis.
This opportunity is ideal for a licensed professional with expertise in mechanical building systems, U.S. code compliance, and design review who enjoys working independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, review, and evaluate mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting documentation.
- Verify that designs comply with applicable U.S. building codes, local regulations, and industry standards.
- Review construction documents and provide technical feedback and design recommendations.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Perform site visits within the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region when required for assessments, coordination, or project support.
- Assist with permitting documentation and respond to technical comments as needed.
- Keep current with applicable codes, standards, and mechanical engineering best practices.
Qualifications
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia (required).
- Licensure in multiple DMV jurisdictions is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing and reviewing HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical building systems.
- Strong understanding of U.S. mechanical codes, permitting requirements, and engineering standards.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or comparable engineering software.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage project assignments independently in a remote work environment.
Work Arrangement
- Remote, project-based contract engagement.
- Flexible schedule based on project needs.
- Occasional travel for site visits within the DMV area may be required.
