Golden Rule Builders is looking for an experienced, efficient, and detailed person to join our team as our Chief Architect Drafter. (Experience with Chief Architect software program required!)
This full-time, hourly position supporting the Architecture Department by creating Chief Architect models, 3D designs, permit drawings, and construction drawing sets. This position helps keep plans current, complete, and ready for estimating, permitting, and construction.
What You’ll Do
This role is focused on being an expert user of Chief Architect software to support the design team, sales, estimating, and production teams with Chief Architect models, designs, permit drawings, and construction drawings.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and maintain Chief Architect models and 3D designs.
- Prepare permit and construction drawing sets.
- Revise plans throughout design, estimating, permitting, and construction.
- Add site measurements, selections, cabinet details, engineering updates, and field changes to drawings.
- Coordinate drawing details with the Lead Designer, architects, engineers, sales, estimating, selections, and production staff.
- Identify missing information, drawing conflicts, or possible construction issues.
- Help improve Chief Architect templates, catalogs, details, and drafting standards.
- Follow GRB standards for drawings, file names, documentation, and project folders.

Required Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in Chief Architect, no exceptions.
- Experience preparing residential construction drawings or permit drawings.
- Basic knowledge of residential construction, building materials, and construction documents.
- Ability to read plans, measurements, sketches, selections, engineering information, and field notes.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage revisions on multiple projects.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, email, and file management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in residential design-build environment.
- Familiarity with local building codes, zoning, and permit drawing requirements.
- Experience coordinating drawings with design, estimating, engineering, and construction teams.
