Overview
Aladdin Packaging LLC, a B2B flexible packaging manufacturer, is seeking an Accounts Receivable & Accounting Specialist to support core accounting operations, financial reporting, and cash flow management, while also owning the day-to-day Accounts Receivable function.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, self-directed accounting professional who is comfortable preparing financial statements and cash flow statements, performing reconciliations, and managing collections in a manufacturing environment.

Overview
Aladdin Packaging LLC, a B2B flexible packaging manufacturer, is seeking a Cost Accountant / Inventory Accounting Specialist to support inventory management, cost accounting, job costing, financial reporting, and manufacturing cost controls.
This role will focus on the full inventory flow from Raw Materials to Work-in-Process to Finished Goods, and ultimately to proper Cost of Goods Sold. The position will help develop and maintain processes to apply materials, labor, overhead, and other direct production costs to jobs and inventory in order to improve costing accuracy, inventory valuation, margin analysis, and financial reporting.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, self-directed accounting professional who is comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, analyzing production costs, reconciling inventory balances, supporting month-end close, and partnering with Operations to improve inventory and cost visibility.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting, Financial Reporting & Cost Accounting
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, inventory schedules, and COGS analysis.
Support the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, inventory adjustments, and variance analysis.
Maintain and update general ledger accounts related to inventory, purchases, WIP, finished goods, manufacturing costs, overhead, and cost of sales to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
Assist with inventory-related accounting, including reconciliation of inventory balances and analysis of manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, overhead, freight, waste, and other direct costs.
Support the monthly calculation and review of Cost of Goods Sold to ensure costs are properly matched to production and shipments.
Prepare and maintain inventory rollforwards for Raw Materials, Work-in-Process, Finished Goods, and COGS.
Review gross margin results and help explain changes in material costs, labor costs, overhead, waste, freight, production efficiency, and inventory activity.
Assist with audit support related to inventory valuation, costing methodology, reserves, reconciliations, and COGS.
2. Inventory Management & Manufacturing Cost Flows
Maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory records in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Support the full inventory flow from Raw Materials to Work-in-Process to Finished Goods.
Reconcile inventory activity between the ERP system, production records, warehouse records, and the general ledger.
Analyze inventory movements, including purchases, receipts, material usage, production activity, transfers, waste, adjustments, and shipments.
Review inventory balances for reasonableness and investigate unexplained differences.
Partner with Purchasing, Warehouse, Production, and Accounting to improve the accuracy of inventory transactions and reporting.
Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory counts, inventory adjustments, and related reconciliation procedures.
Help identify slow-moving, obsolete, excess, or unusual inventory balances.
3. Job Costing, Labor, Overhead & COGS
Assist in setting up and maintaining job costing processes to capture the full cost of production.
Apply raw material costs, direct labor, manufacturing overhead, and other direct production costs to jobs, work orders, and production runs.
Analyze job profitability and compare estimated costs to actual costs.
Review production variances, including material usage, labor efficiency, machine time, waste, spoilage, rework, and overhead absorption.
Work with Operations and Production to understand cost drivers and improve the accuracy of job-level reporting.
Support the development and maintenance of standard costs, estimated costs, or actual costing methodologies, as appropriate.
Prepare reports that help management understand profitability by customer, product, job, machine, production line, or production category.
Help improve the accuracy of inventory valuation and COGS by strengthening the connection between operational activity and financial reporting.
4. Systems, Reporting & Data Analytics
Support optimization of Poly2000 by Dell Data Systems, QuickBooks Desktop, Redzone, and other company systems to improve inventory, costing, production reporting, and financial controls.
Develop and maintain reports to track inventory activity, production costs, usage, waste, labor, machine time, work order costs, margin trends, and production variances.
Use Excel, data analytics, dashboards, business intelligence tools, and emerging AI tools to identify trends, investigate variances, improve reporting efficiency, and provide actionable insights to management.
Assist in improving data capture around material usage, labor, machine time, overhead, waste, production completion, and finished goods movement.
Identify gaps in current reporting and recommend process improvements to strengthen costing accuracy, inventory visibility, and operational decision-making.
Help document inventory accounting procedures, cost flow assumptions, reconciliation processes, and reporting controls.
5. Cross-Functional Support & Process Improvement
Work closely with Purchasing to understand raw material purchases, pricing changes, receiving activity, inventory availability, and supply-related cost changes.
Work with Production and Operations to understand material usage, WIP activity, labor application, waste, rework, finished goods completion, and production performance.
Coordinate with Customer Service, Sales, and Management when job costing or margin analysis requires customer, order, pricing, or shipment context.
Support finance leadership with special projects related to inventory, margin improvement, working capital, manufacturing cost controls, and operational reporting.
Assist with other general accounting functions and special projects as assigned by the CAO.
6. Manufacturing Inventory Management Experience
Maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory records in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Understand and support inventory movement from Raw Materials to Work-in-Process to Finished Goods.
Assist with the development of reporting and reconciliations that support proper inventory values and Cost of Goods Sold.
Help analyze production activity and inventory data to ensure materials, labor, overhead, and other direct costs are properly captured and applied.
Support inventory accuracy, production costing, job costing, and margin analysis in a manufacturing environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of experience in accounting, with meaningful exposure to manufacturing inventory, cost accounting, job costing, or production cost analysis.
Demonstrated ability to assist in preparing financial statements, inventory schedules, COGS analysis, and financial reporting support.
Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory accounting, manufacturing cost flows, and Cost of Goods Sold.
Experience working with Raw Materials, Work-in-Process, Finished Goods, and cost of sales.
Ability to analyze labor, overhead, material usage, waste, job costs, production variances, and margin results.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, and large data analysis.
Experience using ERP and accounting systems; familiarity with Poly2000 by Dell Data Systems, QuickBooks Desktop, and Redzone is strongly preferred.
High attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Accounting, Operations, Purchasing, Production, Customer Service, and Management.
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Experience in manufacturing, preferably in flexible packaging, printing, converting, plastics, or a related industrial sector.
Experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, actual costing, job costing, or production variance analysis.
Experience building inventory rollforwards and reconciling ERP inventory to the general ledger.
Understanding of labor and overhead allocation methods.
Experience supporting audits, inventory counts, cycle counts, inventory reserves, or inventory valuation analysis.
Experience with Redzone or similar production, labor, performance, and shop-floor data systems.
Experience using AI tools, data analytics, dashboards, or business intelligence tools to improve reporting, identify trends, analyze variances, and support better business decisions.
Familiarity with manufacturing KPIs such as material yield, waste, labor efficiency, machine utilization, overhead absorption, and gross margin by job, product, or customer.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform work at a computer for extended periods.
Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for computer work, phone communication, and general office activities.
Ability to occasionally walk the production floor or warehouse to understand inventory flow, production activity, and operational processes.
Because this position involves handling company financial information, inventory data, costing records, and accounting systems, the finalist may be required to complete a background screening, conducted in accordance with applicable law.
