This position is primarily ELA, but could include Spanish instruction or other content areas as may fit to a candidate's experience and expertise.
The High School English/Language Arts Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and rigorous instruction in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking to students in grades 9–12. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, creativity, communication skills, and a lifelong appreciation for literature and language.

Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards, district curriculum, and instructional best practices.

Teach courses in English/Language Arts, which may include Literature, Composition, Creative Writing, Speech, or Advanced Placement (AP) English.

Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, emotional, and linguistic needs of students.

Foster critical thinking, analytical reading, effective writing, and verbal communication skills.

Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, respect, and student engagement.

Integrate instructional technology and digital resources into classroom instruction.

Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and progress reports.

Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, curriculum planning, and school committees.

Support school policies, administrative procedures, and student code of conduct.

Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field preferred.

Valid state teaching certification/licensure for secondary English/Language Arts instruction required or the ability to obtain.

Prior teaching experience at the secondary level preferred.
