Job Overview
The position is an entry level position at our small family owned and operated machine shop. This position is a steppingstone position and gives the opportunity to advance quickly and learn a trade.
Our ideal candidate would be willing to learn, have some experience with tools and/or manufacturing, or is currently pursuing a certification in CNC machining/programming or manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Assisting with CNC machining operations, which includes but is not limited to:
- Setting up mills/lathe per instruction.
- Assembling tools and holders for machining operations, replacing inserts and cutting tools as needed.
- Operate production machines by loading and unloading material and changing completed parts.
- Chip management, i.e. shoveling chips from machines to hoppers, emptying barrels, performing cleanouts of machines when switching materials.
- Processing job materials.
- Checking in materials when they are delivered.
- Cutting material on bandsaws according to cut lists.
- Hand finishing machined parts.
- Deburring using hand deburring tools, Scotch Brite wheels, sanders, and hand pads.
- Finishing threads with hand taps and dies.
- Inspect finished parts for visual defects and verify dimensional accuracy as instructed.
- Performing general shop and machine maintenance
- Assisting with general cleanup around the shop, including sweeping, mopping, removing garbage, and assisting with all cleaning that needs to be done periodically.
- Monitoring oil levels and coolant levels on machines, adding both as needed.
- Organizing tools and equipment after use, placing tools no longer in use back in their appropriate areas.
Experience
- Strong attention to detail with excellent manual dexterity; ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to CNC programming, machine operation, welding, grinding, and assembly processes in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with basic computer operation.
- Shop experience preferred.
Hours are typically from 7:00am-3:30pm, with occasional weekends as needed. However, we are open to flexible hours for the right candidate.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
