Overview
Job Summary: Under general administrative oversight, the Library Supervisor provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Chisholm Public Library. This position is responsible for overseeing all library operations, fostering a collaborative and effective staff team, and guiding both short and long-term planning to align with the library’s mission and the needs of the community.

- ·Provides vision, leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range plans in alignment with the library’s mission and goals.
- Supervises library staff, including scheduling, assigning work, evaluating performance, and hiring.
- Oversees and participates in the development of program goals, objectives, and priorities.
- Performs a range of administrative tasks, including but not limited to: Preparing purchase requisitions, ordering supplies, and tracking inventory. Budget development and financial oversight. Drafting, implementing, and maintaining library policies
- Serves as the primary liaison between the City Council and the Library Board; prepares for and facilitates Library Board meetings.
- Plans and implements public relations and community outreach initiatives to enhance public engagement and support.
- Educates the public concerning library resources and issues. Responds to questions and concerns from Library patrons and the general public.
- Maintains library collection thru cataloging, ordering, weeding and inventory.
- Oversees library building and grounds planning, prioritizing, and executing capital improvement projects.
- Identifies, applies for, and manages grants and other external funding opportunities applicable to library operational and capital needs.
- Ensures compliance with mandates and requirements necessary for membership in the Arrowhead Library System; submits state-mandated annual reports and maintains up-to-date policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in library science or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and 4 plus years directly related professional library/information management experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience working in an Integrated Library System.
- Minimum two years’ experience in a lead, supervisory, or senior capacity including managing workflows, scheduling, training and evaluating staff.
- Hands on familiarity with Library Software Systems.
- Proficiency in computer administrative skills such as Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with proven experience of a minimum of 2 years navigating public facing environments.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of library science, management and programming.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Must pass a physical exam, including drug and alcohol screening.
- Must attend CPR, First Aid, and safety training provided at the time of hire.
Other Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Master’s Degree in Library Science.
- Previous work experience in municipal, county government, or non-profit setting.
- Experience representing the library at professional, civic, or local community events and building partnerships with local organizations.
- Previous experience creating and directing specialized programing for specific demographics, such as children, teens, seniors, or patrons with special needs.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Requires the ability to move throughout the building, reach and lift materials, and work in both seated and standing positions for extended periods

Pay: $81,448.94 per year
