Job Purpose: Manage and oversee the wine department daily including but not limited to ordering, receiving, pricing, inventory, signage, and merchandising. Be especially customer service driven to properly assist customers in locating products and educating customers on types of wine, brands, varietals, etc. Must be available to work on days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Collaborate with the Wine buyer in ordering and procuring wines from vendors while focusing on post off pricing strategies, department space, trends, and customer requests.
2. Collaborate with the Store Manager, Assistant Manager and Night Manager to set wine department shelf sets, goals and strategies to increase wine department sales. Must also be able to educate fellow staff on wine, the wine department and how to locate products for customers in the wine department.
3. Assist in the wine department inventory, identifying patterns, and strategizing to minimize shrinkage in wine department. Must be able to adjust inventory when necessary to maintain proper inventory levels.
4. Provide superior customer service by approaching customers, locating products, utilizing the special request sheet, and educating customers on wine products, wine varietals, regions, food pairings and more.
5. Assist in the receiving wine deliveries including checking all wine in, calculating wine prices, building, and merchandising wine displays and merchandising wine on the shelves. Ensure all wine has proper signage and tags.
6. Oversee and manage the work of merchandisers and other staff that may be working in our store to ensure products are accurately priced, displays are properly built, and product is put away in correct locations per company expectations.
7. Routinely condense and merchandise displays per company expectations, print tags and signage as needed. Must be able to keep wine department shelves well faced and stocked, ensure all products are on the floor for sale and easily accessible to customers.
8. Must be able to independently conduct in store wine tastings with customers following all MLCC codes and laws including maintaining a valid SERV safe Alcohol training certification (TIPS training).
9. Must be aware of how to prevent theft and understand how to handle situations regarding customer or employee theft properly following company policies and emphasizing safety.
10. Must understand and follow company policy regarding returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.
11. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask.
12. Promote a professional, harmonious workplace that emphasizes safety and respect for each other and our customers.
13. Must promote, follow, and enforce all company policies and procedures.

Rate of pay is negotiable based upon prior experience and extent of knowledge.
