Job Summary:
Under the direction of the administrator, the District Multilingual Teacher would be responsible for providing language support to multilingual students both in small groups and individually, translating documents, and interpreting for staff, English learners and their families.
Qualifications:
Required:
-
Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education
-
Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in ESL
-
MA in TESOL preferred
-
Meet all of the requirements as a highly qualified teacher
-
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven organizational skills
-
Demonstrated success as a collaborator and proven team player
-
Demonstrated successful communication skills with students, staff, parents, and community
-
Proficient bilingual speaker
Desired Characteristics:
-
Successful experience working with school-aged children
-
Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom
-
Experience in collaborating in writing common assessments
-
Experience working with at risk students preferred
-
Knowledge of Google Workspace application
Duties:
-
Assist in student language development through small group and individual support
-
Work closely with classroom teacher and/or other staff to support instruction
-
Reinforce and assist classroom teacher and/or other staff to increase the learning of target students
-
Ability to plan and organize; good work habits
-
Communicate effectively with students and teachers
-
Willing to attend conferences and participate in professional development
-
Willing to interpret and translate as needed
-
Perform other duties as assigned by administration
