The Director of Development is responsible for leading, planning, and executing a comprehensive fundraising and revenue strategy to support the mission and long-term sustainability of Boys & Girls Club of Metro Queens. This role oversees all fundraising operations including major gifts, corporate partnerships, special events, annual and year-round campaigns, grants, RFP submissions, donor stewardship, and revenue tracking.
The Director provides strategic oversight to the Resource Development Coordinator and ensures that fundraising initiatives are aligned with organizational goals, revenue targets, compliance requirements, and brand positioning.
Responsibilities
Strategic Fundraising Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan with measurable revenue goals.
- Design and lead the Annual Campaign and Year-Round Giving Campaign strategies.
- Establish short-term and long-term revenue growth strategies.
- Diversify funding streams including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, foundations, and special events.
- Present fundraising strategy and progress reports to Executive Leadership and Board.
Major Events Oversight & Revenue Accountability
- Provide full strategic oversight and coordination of Youth of the Year Dinner, Annual Golf Outing, and Family Block Party.
- Develop sponsorship packages and revenue projections for each event.
- Cultivate event sponsors and major donors.
- Ensure events meet or exceed established revenue targets.
- Oversee event budgets, vendor negotiations, and post-event financial analysis.
Grants, RFPs & Institutional Funding
- Identify and pursue foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant local governmental agencies and elected officials.
- Lead the writing, review, and submission of grants and RFPs.
- Develop a grant calendar to ensure timely submissions and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with grant deliverables and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with program leadership to gather outcome data and impact stories.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Build and manage relationships with major donors and corporate partners.
- Develop stewardship plans to increase donor retention and upgrade giving levels.
- Represent the Club at fundraising, networking, and community events.
- Partner with Board members to expand donor engagement.
Corporate & Community Engagement
- Serve as primary liaison for corporate partnerships and volunteer opportunities.
- Develop customized sponsorship and engagement proposals.
- Strengthen brand visibility and community presence.
Revenue Tracking & Compliance
- Oversee tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Ensure proper documentation of pledges, sponsorships, and grants.
- Monitor fundraising metrics and prepare regular performance reports.
- Ensure ethical fundraising practices and regulatory compliance.
Skill Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive fundraising experience.
- Demonstrated success securing major gifts and grants.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience supervising staff and managing revenue goals.
