General Warehouse Helper – Wholesale Meat & Retail Grocery Operations (FT)
Position Summary
The General Warehouse Helper supports daily warehouse, meat processing, and grocery distribution operations by assisting with receiving, stocking, order selection, sanitation, loading/unloading, and general facility upkeep. This position helps maintain product quality, food safety, inventory accuracy, and an organized work environment while supporting multiple departments as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with unloading incoming deliveries and verifying shipments against invoices or purchase orders.
- Stock and rotate products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Move product throughout warehouse, coolers, freezers, and retail areas safely and efficiently.
- Assist meat department personnel with packaging, labeling, palletizing, and staging product.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of warehouse areas, coolers, freezers, equipment, and workstations.
- Remove trash, cardboard, pallets, and other debris from work areas.
- Help prepare customer orders for wholesale or retail delivery/pickup.
- Operate pallet jacks, carts, hand trucks, and other approved warehouse equipment safely.
- Monitor product condition and report damaged, spoiled, or out-of-temperature items.
- Assist with inventory counts and product organization.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and food safety procedures.
- Maintain proper personal hygiene and use required PPE.
- Support retail grocery departments as directed, including stocking shelves and assisting with merchandising.
- Assist with loading delivery vehicles and securing loads properly.
- Perform general maintenance and housekeeping duties throughout the facility.
- Work cooperatively with warehouse, meat, grocery, and management teams.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous warehouse, grocery, food service, or meat department experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50–75 pounds regularly.
- Strong attendance and reliability.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to work in cold temperatures for extended periods.
- Ability to safely handle repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to climb ladders and work around warehouse equipment safely.
Work Environment
- Warehouse, refrigerated cooler, freezer, meat processing, and retail grocery environments.
- Exposure to cold temperatures, wet floors, sharp equipment, and moving machinery.
- Fast-paced environment with moderate to heavy physical activity.
Safety Expectations
- Follow all OSHA, food safety, sanitation, and company safety procedures.
- Wear required PPE including gloves, cut-resistant gear, aprons, and slip-resistant footwear where applicable.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, damaged equipment, or product concerns to management.
- Participate in required safety and equipment training.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
