Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic Assistant / Shop Helper to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will assist experienced mechanics with maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of heavy construction and agricultural equipment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your mechanical skills while contributing to the smooth operation of our service shop.
Responsibilities include:
*Assist senior mechanics with the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm equipment.
*Support the disassembly and reassembly of construction machinery using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics.
*Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, and hydraulic system checks.
*Help with equipment troubleshooting involving electrical diagnostics, diesel engine repair, transmission issues, and suspension systems.
*Participate in MIG & Stick welding and fabrication projects to modify or repair equipment components as directed.
*Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate equipment like forklifts or hoists to ensure safety and efficiency.
*Maintain a clean and organized shop environment while adhering to safety protocols at all times.
* Cleaning equipment, vehicles, the shop and work areas.
Knife sharpening and general yard work.
Qualifications
*Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
* Reliable attendance and ability to follow directions.
*Willingness to learn and perform physical, hands-on work,
*Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outside.
*Heavy equipment, ag equipment, mechanical, or welding experience is preferred but not required.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
