Position Summary

The Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment where every child feels valued, capable, and loved. This role works closely with children, families, and fellow team members to foster curiosity, confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Teachers at First Adventures Academy lead their classrooms with enthusiasm, creativity, and professionalism while helping build a positive, supportive culture for both children and staff.
Reports To: Director, Assistant Director, and Curriculum Director
Core ResponsibilitiesCreate Meaningful Learning Experiences
- Follow and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
- Follow First Adventures Academy’s curriculum framework while incorporating creativity, child interests, and hands-on learning opportunities.
- Create an environment where children are encouraged to explore, problem-solve, and develop confidence in their abilities.
- Support each child’s individual learning style and developmental needs.
Build Strong Relationships
- Develop warm, trusting relationships with children and families.
- Communicate regularly with parents through daily conversations, classroom updates, conferences, and progress reports.
- Partner with families to support each child’s growth and success.
- Foster a classroom culture built on kindness, inclusion, respect, and encouragement.
Lead and Support the Classroom Team
- Serve as a positive role model for all co teachers and staff.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure consistency in classroom routines, expectations, and quality of care.
- Contribute to a positive, solution-focused workplace culture.
Maintain a Safe and Healthy Environment
- Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all children at all times.
- Follow all licensing regulations, center policies, and health and safety procedures.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards.
- Conduct regular safety checks and report concerns promptly.
Documentation and Professional Growth
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and excellence in teaching.
QualificationsExperience & Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or educational setting preferred, but willing to provide training.
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with children.
Required Certifications
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Ability to pass all required state background checks and health screenings.
Education
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 30 credit hours in Early Childhood Education or equivalent coursework preferred.
- CDA credential or equivalent early childhood training may be considered.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to actively engage with children throughout the day, including sitting on the floor, bending, kneeling, reaching, and participating in outdoor activities.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to supervise children in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and maintain active supervision at all times.

Compensation
Competitive pay based on education, experience, credentials, and demonstrated leadership abilities.
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
