Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral health support.
- Maintain a safe environment by following aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care and phlebotomy; assist with infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, or behavioral health settings to deliver comprehensive patient service.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards and HIPAA privacy laws.
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental delays, or in geriatrics and long-term care environments.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; proficient in medical documentation practices.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe patient care.
- Experience in diverse clinical settings including hospital medicine, post-acute care, outpatient clinics, or home & community care environments.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and assist with complex procedures like catheter or wound care.
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with a compassionate attitude toward patients of all ages—including pediatrics and senior populations—especially those requiring memory or dementia care.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) and familiarity with emergency response protocols such as Level I Trauma Center procedures or ICU standards.
