Part-Time Lunch Manager — 30 Hours Per Week
Bear River Charter School is seeking a dependable, organized, and student-focused Lunch Manager to oversee our daily school meal program.
This is a part-time position working approximately 30 hours per week. The hourly wage is $20–$23 per hour, depending on experience.
Position Summary
The Lunch Manager is responsible for planning, preparing, serving, and managing daily school meals. This position requires someone who can work independently, stay organized, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen and serving environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare school lunch menus
- Order food, supplies, and kitchen materials
- Prepare and cook meals according to the daily menu
- Serve meals to students and staff
- Maintain appropriate portion sizes and food quality
- Manage lunch transactions, payments, and meal records
- Track food costs and manage the lunch program budget
- Monitor inventory and reduce unnecessary food waste
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, and serving spaces
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements
- Maintain accurate records related to purchases, inventory, meals, and transactions
- Coordinate with school administration regarding menus, budgets, schedules, and program needs
- Communicate professionally with students, staff, families, and vendors
- Support a positive and respectful lunchroom environment
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience with food preparation, cooking, food service, or kitchen management preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage transactions, records, inventory, and a budget
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Dependable, punctual, and attentive to detail
- Comfortable working in a school environment with children
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food, supplies, and equipment as needed
- Food handler permit or willingness to obtain required certification
