Laser System Specialist

Job Summary:
The Laser System Specialist (LSS) will design and develop new laser systems, optical paths, and assemblies. The individual will work with and support customers, Sales, Application Engineering, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments. The LSS will also provide input on the mechanical and electrical designs of laser systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prototype Development & Component Evaluation·
- Evaluate new optical, mechanical, and electrical components·
- Review technical documentation including manuals, prints, and schematics
- Integrate components into laboratory prototype systems
- Test system performance using lab equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, power meters)
Troubleshooting & System Support
- Troubleshoot laser and motion systems across assembly, internal fleet, and customer systems·
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to identify optimal solutions
Documentation & Process Support
- Document system changes from integration, troubleshooting, and research
- Develop procedures for internal staff and customers
- Review marketing materials for technical accuracy
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in an engineering field, preferably optics/photonics·
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in engineering/tech work/education.
- Exposure to prototyping, testing, or hands-on engineering development
Skills
- Critical thinking·
- Familiarity with/an aptitude for measurement devices (i.e. calipers, multimeters, digital microscopes)·
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Strong comprehension and notetaking
- Computer literacy (Windows, spreadsheets, word processors)· Experience with CAD or 3D modelling software on a professional or hobbyist level (desired)
- Internship or project experience in a relevant industry (e.g., automotive, robotics, automation, etc. (desired)
- Experience in the tinker/makerspace (desired). Additional Requirements:
Must be willing to travel to domestic and international client’s facilities as necessary
Location:
Orlando, FL – onsite. This is not a remote role.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
