Clackamas County Facilities Management seeks an experienced, motivated Landscape Coordinator to help maintain and enhance the county's diverse outdoor spaces. This position plays a critical role in preserving the safety, functionality, appearance, and long-term value of county properties by planning, coordinating, and overseeing landscape maintenance, irrigation systems, and grounds improvement projects.
As the county's subject matter expert for landscape operations, you will oversee contractors, conduct site inspections, identify maintenance and repair needs, and manage projects from concept through completion. You will develop scopes of work, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and budgets while coordinating procurement activities and ensuring work meets county standards. This role also offers the chance to apply technical expertise in landscape design, irrigation, drainage, pest management, and asset management, supporting both ongoing maintenance and future improvements.

Required Minimum Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:*

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial landscape, including plant selection, installation, pruning, soil management, and pest diagnosis, that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position

Experience planning and preparing cost estimates, organize, coordinate and functionally oversee landscape operations and equipment installation projects

Experience preparing and administering project budgeting, cost control, and reporting

Knowledge of shrubs, grass, and tree anatomy, selection, installation, response to damage, soil characteristics, pruning techniques and diagnosis of pest problems in a commercial landscape

Knowledge, demonstrated through work history, of landscape design that includes: planning, basic drafting skills, grading, drainage, and site planning for landscape, grounds, and irrigation lines

Knowledge of irrigation principles, understanding and design of drainage systems

Ability to repair and maintain valves, install and initialize irrigation controllers, locate existing zones and valves, and perform pump repairs

Ability to identify system repairs and improvements

Ability to provide after-hours emergency response on a call-out basis
Preferred Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:*

Experience working with public-sector facilities or large commercial campuses

Landscape Construction Professional license (within the last 5 years) or 10 years experience in landscape project management

Current Back Flow Assembly Operation and Testing certification

Current Public Pesticide Applicator license

Working knowledge of various maintenance, remodeling and construction practices and procedures

Driving is required for county business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.

Ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire a Public Pesticide Applicator license with subcategories: Ornamental & Turf Herbicide, Ornamental & Turf Insecticide/Fungicide, Aquatic, Right of Way, Regulatory Weed Control, Commercial Pesticide Applicator - for private property application; and Landscape Irrigation, Design - Grading and Drainage, Hardscaping, Plants and Turf, Laws and Regulations
