Job Description:
J Lowry, LLC is a small, growing company in the Clear Lake/NASA area of Houston, TX. We specialize in producing precise manufacturing drawings and fabrication packages for ASME pressure vessels and API storage tanks. Our clients use these drawings to fabricate the products. We're seeking a skilled SolidWorks Modeler with drafting experience to join our team and help deliver functional, code-compliant designs that meet client specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks (must be proficient in parametric modeling, assemblies, and generating custom drawings from 3D models).
- Manipulate and edit models to add/remove components, revise designs, and optimize for fabrication.
- Collaborate with team members to gather specifications, requirements, and feedback.
- Calculate dimensions, material requirements, weights, and tolerances.
- Prepare layouts, rough sketches, and detailed drawings; review with the team to identify issues and improve designs.
- Ensure drawings meet client needs, fabrication standards, and ASME/API guidelines (training provided where needed).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 2+ years hands-on professional experience with SolidWorks 3D software (post-school or equivalent real-world use; school projects alone do not qualify).
- Proven experience as a 3D Modeler, Drafter, or similar role in manufacturing/fabrication.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional (CSWP) strongly preferred (or equivalent demonstrated expertise).
- Knowledge of pressure vessels, ASME BPVC Section VIII Div. 1, or API tanks is a plus (training available).
