Position Overview
We are seeking a CNC (Computer Numeric Control) Machine Operator to handle heavy machinery designed to produce parts, tools, and metal components. The CNC Machinist responsible for the setup and operation of CNC machinery. They are also central to the inspection of the final product, ensuring it is free from defects and ready for the market or the next production stage.
The ideal CNC Machine Operator candidate has:
- Attention to detail and mechanical aptitude;
- Technical writing and comprehension skills; ability to read and interpret complex instructions, engineering drawings, and specs;
- Mathematical skills; facility with numbers, measurements; and dimensions;
- Physical strength and stamina; ability to work in hot environments and stand/walk for long periods; occasional climbing, bending, and lifting heavy tools and machines.
- Communication and problem-solving skills;
- Teamwork and collaboration skills;
- Commitment to quality;
- Adaptability and time management skills;
- Certifications like AMS2750 or CQI-9;
- Basic electrical troubleshooting and vacuum system knowledge;
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred;
- 2+ years of industrial oven experience, with 1+ year programming vacuum furnaces;
- Experience with SPC and data acquisition;
- Familiarity with PLC/HMI controls and systems like Cimcool or Centorr.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Program and operating vacuum furnaces and other CNC machines for hardening, tempering, annealing, brazing, and stress relieving;
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings for the impending task;
- Translating instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function;
- Preparing and loading raw materials and parts onto the machines;
- Setting machines to complete the full cycles for the mass fabrication of parts;
- Monitoring the machines while they execute the tasks and make adjustments accordingly;
- Accurately complete batch records, logs, and inspection reports;
- Report downtime, deviations, and corrective actions to supervisors;
- Ensure compliance with ISO/AS9001 and/or NADCAP standards.
- Performing quality control checks by inspecting finished products for defects;
- Maintaining and cleaning CNC machines to ensure functionality;
- Ensuring compliance with all safety procedures.
