About Us
Pi Learning Academy is a small non-profit micro school in Brandon, FL, founded by parents of children with autism. We serve students in grades 1–6, with a special focus on supporting kids with autism and other diverse learning needs. With an almost 1-to-1 student-teacher ratio, we're able to give every child the individual attention they deserve.
Job Overview
We're looking for a passionate, dedicated teacher to join our close-knit team. This is a chance to truly shape personalized learning for students across a range of ages and abilities. You'll design engaging lessons, build a classroom where kids feel safe and curious, and support each child's growth — academically and personally. If you love the idea of teaching in a nurturing, flexible environment where you actually know every student by name, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Plan and teach well-rounded lessons across core subjects (literacy, math, science, and more), using a mix of teaching methods and learning tools.
- Create a warm, engaging classroom that encourages participation, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Adapt your instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, including those with autism, special education needs, or who benefit from early intervention.
- Use positive behavior management and one-on-one mentorship to support each child.
- Track student progress through regular assessments and provide tutoring or extra support as needed.
- Communicate openly and regularly with parents and fellow teachers about each child's milestones and progress.
- Keep accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and behavior.
- Incorporate movement and physical activity into daily routines.
What We're Looking For
- Classroom experience in early childhood or elementary settings (private school or micro school experience is a plus).
- A solid understanding of child development, curriculum planning, and classroom management.
- Experience working with children with diverse needs, especially autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Strong communication skills for working with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Comfort planning lessons across multiple subjects, including literacy, math, and physical education.
- Experience with tutoring, early intervention, and supporting children with autism or other special needs.
- Comfort using technology for instruction and assessment.
- Strong writing skills for documentation, lesson plans, and progress reports.
