Position Summary
The People Services / Human Resources Market Director directs departmental activities and resources to achieve organizational objectives. This role is responsible for staffing, budget oversight, policy implementation, compliance, and employee development while fostering a professional and collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
- Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, IT, service levels, and complaint management.
- Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and continuing education.
- Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets and ensure operations comply with funding allocations.
- Coordinate and direct internal and external audits.
- Foster an environment encouraging professional growth and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage and direct staff, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work.
- Responsible for hiring, training, developing, reviewing performance, and administering corrective actions for employees.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of professional Human Resources experience within a healthcare setting.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong business math skills (ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs).
- Proficiency with computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to address complex and delicate situations.
- Ability to manage varied and complex business problems, using judgment and precedent to develop solutions.
- Capable of independent functional decision-making and contributing to departmental policies and practices.
- Strong project planning and organizational skills, including delegation and resource allocation.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands for typing and handling materials.
- Ability to lift/move up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and focus adjustment.
- Work may involve exposure to blood borne pathogens, contagious illnesses, toxic chemicals, and bio hazardous materials.
Work Environment and Travel Requirements
- Office-based in a well-lit, ventilated, climate-controlled environment with standard office equipment.
- Occasional overnight travel up to 10% by land and/or air.
- Noise level typical of office and hospital settings.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Applicable work experience may substitute for education.
