The position is for a part time position up to 16 hours per week. On a Monday/Wednesday schedule or Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Bilingual - Spanish Preferred.
Responsibilities:
-Verify Coverage: Confirm active insurance policy status, copays, deductibles, and lifetime maximums via payer portals or phone calls.
-Obtain Authorizations: Secure required prior authorizations or pre-certifications for specialized treatments, surgeries, or diagnostics.
-Communicate Costs: Inform patients of expected out-of-pocket financial responsibilities prior to receiving care.
-Update Records: Accurately enter demographic and insurance data into practice management or electronic medical record (EMR) software.
-Coordinate and manage patient referrals in a timely and efficient manner
-Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to ensure smooth referral process
-Obtain necessary medical records and documentation for referrals
-Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
-Assist in medical coding and billing processes related to referrals
-Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
-Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records and documentation
-Provide excellent customer service to patients and address any concerns or questions
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a medical office or dental office setting preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, and managed care processes
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficient in using office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
