Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support and care to individuals in various settings, including home, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to support their personal hygiene and comfort
- Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safe and compliant practices
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and utilize proper manual handling techniques for safe patient transfers
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient observations, care provided, and any incidents in compliance with privacy standards like HIPAA
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community outings, promoting social engagement and independence
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or senior care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Experience in group home settings, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is preferred
- Certifications such as First Aid and CPR are required; additional training in dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care or hospice care is a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using proper manual handling methods; physical stamina for long shifts is essential
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information
