Duties
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer or flatbed truck equipped for hotshot deliveries, including refrigerated trailers, tanker trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized freight vehicles
- Load and unload cargo efficiently while adhering to safety protocols and proper handling procedures
- Plan and execute route driving strategies to meet tight delivery schedules across regional or national destinations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are maintained
- Maintain accurate logs of mileage, deliveries, and hours in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Communicate proactively with dispatch teams regarding delivery statuses, delays, or issues encountered during routes
- Manage all aspects of freight handling, including securing loads on flatbeds or specialized trailers as needed
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a focus on commercial driving environments
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles with a strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and control systems
- Familiarity with various trailer types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
- Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary
- Strong knowledge of route driving best practices for timely deliveries while maintaining safety standards
- Excellent driving skills with a clean record; experience with tractor-trailer or heavy-duty truck operation preferred
- Capable of handling delivery driver responsibilities including cargo securement and documentation compliance
